When you stop feeding your body foods that it is used to, you may encounter feelings of being deprived. This feeling of deprivation can lead to binge eating and poor food choices. The most important thing is to get back on track. Attachments and patterns can be difficult to break. The best way to get bad food out of your body is to feed it good food.

Here are a few tips on easing the transition from one diet to your new Super Healing and Vitality Diet!

  1. Take the time every day to acknowledge your achievements. Congratulate yourself on creating a healthier life for yourself. Gratitude and self love is the cornerstone of a vibrant, healthy and dynamic soul. Keep a gratitude journal, write morning pages, re-peat a positive affirmation such as “I accept myself, un-conditionally, right now!” Before every meal say a word of thanks for having such abundance in your life. Just watch, these small acknowledgments will lead to huge realizations.

  2. Keep it simple. Don’t worry about mastering the art of the vegan macrobiotic gourmet just yet. To begin, get to know the art of preparing brown rice, quinoa, steamed leafy greens, cooked lentils and fabulous beans! Nourish yourself with simple whole foods, and then watch out! This foundation will be a spring board to the extraordinary.
  3. Always have rice and beans on hand. Some brown rice, some leftover beans, an onion and some spices, along with a lovely fresh salad, can be the ticket to a delicious meal in a pinch. Don't let yourself be caught with nothing to eat. Always have the staples on hand. When you have a moment, cook up some rice to store in the fridge. Every couple of days, prepare a fabulous grain and bean dish or a hearty lentil soup. Make enough to enjoy the following day. Reheated brown rice with extra water to make it creamy, fresh berries, nuts and seeds, raisins and dates, with a splash of maple syrup and a dash of cinnamon is the best breakfast ever!
  4. Learn the art of the vegan snack. Hummus, white Bean dip, guacamole, fresh salsa, organic corn chips, spelt crackers, Kamut flat breads, sliced crisp veggies, seed crackers, almond butter, manna bread. Prepare bean and veggie dips and keep in your fridge. If you are buying pre-made, make sure to look at the labels for hidden modified milk products.
  5. Eat a small meal every 2 hours. Enjoy a bowl of rice or a cup of soup and a slice of spelt bread every few hours. This will keep your energy up! Never skip a meal and always take the time to sit and enjoy your food. Feeling stressed and busy while eating hinders digestion. The ideal amount of food is 1-2 cups per meal. Never over eat and never eat past 7pm.
  6. Drink lots of water! Water is the ultimate equalizer. As your body is transitioning the more pure and clean water you give it the better! Help flush out those old toxins even faster by drinking at least 2 litres of pure water a day.
  7. Try and go to vegetarian restaurants or Asian or Indian eateries over mainstream North American Places. Most restaurants will be happy to serve you rice and a side of vegetables if you ask. Call ahead and ask if they have vegan options or can prepare something special for you.
